So, before the pitchforks go up, I would like to say that this isn't about actual evolution. it's more about the evolution of the human race. So lets get into it............ The human race was just like any other species in the early days. We killed, we ate, we reproduced, and we died. But then after a long time, we discovered fire. Fire was essential in our early days. It not only made cooking food an option (which made food more nutritious and safe to eat) but also allowed the ability to smoke out prey by setting fire to an area. Humans back then were much better equipped to survive than we are today, and they had a wide set of skills perfected to a level we really can't achieve nowadays. This lifestyle was the same for a long time with humans as hunter-gatherers. we lived in small communities and hunted to survive, moving when necessary. Then, came along the agricultural revolution. This revolution is somewhat overlooked but in essence, it was the very thing that changed us from advanced predators to truly, the masters of the Earth. This revolution made it so that instead of moving around, we had a reliable steady source of food. we then, instead of being good all-a-rounders were able to focus on certain skills. with people dedicated to certain skills we as a human race began to exponentially develop. We began forging metal heralding in the bronze age and making societies and empires. We created protection like armor and shields. We built huge monuments with language and technology. Then, we made gunpowder, making a new type of weapon, never before seen. we created the cannon and musket. These are probably one of the biggest weapon developments in history beyond metalworking. after the musket, we just went up, making weapons which weren't front-loaders which lead to more efficient weaponry. We entered the industrial age and made everything readily available to the masses. We created handheld bombs and war machines. We built new ways to build structures and made men fly. We made machines to do what animals could only do before. We created ways to cure diseases saving millions of lives, We made weapons which could destroy cities. We put a man on the moon and on the bottom of the ocean. We built machines to compute data for us and that could look into the stars. We built space ships to travel to distant planets and take pictures for us. We made the world completely interconnected by a web of data. We built weapons which could be piloted remotely. So when someone says that the human race is nothing, just realize how far we've come. And that it was all because some primitive man found fire.

So. I'm supposed to write about what my initial thoughts were about tangerine. My thoughts were this: that just got real. more or less (oh, by the way... spoilers) what happened was that everything was a normal new town thing besides some weird lightning and then out of nowhere a supporting character just drops dead as he's electrocuted. I read this and I was just like what the heck just happened?! and had to reread it a couple of times. my other initial thought was that, the main character's brother is a huge A-hole as he tries to 'kill' him on multiple occasions and nobody cares. That in a nutshell is what I think of tangerine thus far.
So, for spring break I went to Colorado to see some family and go snowshoeing. While this was all fun in stuff, I was like, why is it that we have so many christian holiday breaks? well you know, know that I think of it it's quite obvious as America was settled mainly by puritans. but then since my train of thought is wonky I thought, what traditions aren't christian in Easter? well obviously the Easter bunny right? so I looked into it and the Easter bunny is a German tradition that came to the US in the 1700s. It basically was where children would make a nest in their yard for the "Osterhase" some sort of creature to lay its eggs in. this tradition evolved into the new hide and seek egg game of today. one other interesting thing though about spring break is that it has kind of moved away from Easter in many places in the US to earlier. This however is really just the US as most other countries don't freak out when another religion is implemented into pop culture... but whatever. the main interesting thing is that it was mainly from Germany.
1. In a paragraph or two compare (similarities) and contrast (differences) Night and The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.
So the similarities are obviously that they are both set in concentration camps and that they both had to do with the prosecution of Jews. The differences are that one is from an inside perspective (night) and the other is from an outside perspective (BITSP). another difference is that in BITSP the main character dies and in Night he doesn't. 2. Choose 1 character from Night or one character from Boy in the Striped Pajamas to analyze. Make note (explain) of their physical appearance, character traits, feelings, demeanor, thoughts, etc. Pavol! So, pavol was very worn, he shook constantly and didn't talk much except when Bruno discredited his doctorate. he was old but did care about others. 3. How have your thoughts or understandings of the Holocaust changed since completing this unit (background research, Night, Boy in the Striped Pajamas? Well it showed more of the horrible things and made it feel a bit more real that what it seemed when I was younger. It also showed more of the child involvement in the holocaust. 4. Which did you like better and why (book or movie)? I think I liked the movie better but only because we couldn't read the book at our own pace so I got pretty bored by it. I also like the movie better because of the fact that it was an outside perspective. 5. Any final thoughts or questions you have regarding either the book, movie, or Holocaust in general? Nope.......................................................................................................................................................................................... So, this is for the book Night by Elie Wiesel and it's about that holocaust. yep we're in THAT territory (oh and spoilers... duh). so the signpost I found was "over and over again" on page 85. Basically all of the inmates are running and people are falling and dying all around since if they stop running they get shot. More or less the reason this is over and over again is because there is a constant theme of background running and death as Elie is watching around him. The question of why the author would bring this up is to push the idea of mindless running as how they aren't really running anymore, their bodies are doing that for them. it is to show that they are so worn out that they no longer feel the running.
So, If I were the presidents of the united states I would 1 make sure that I helped out the economic crisis occurring in England mainly because these countries will be our allies in the future if we make very good relations with them. I would probably do this by reducing military spending from 634.2 billion to 550 billion, and probably shave off 1 billion of medicare and health, social security unemployment and labor, housing and community, transportation, and veterans benefits while that may sound like a lot it isn't too much in the grand scheme of things. I also think that since I don't know what exactly this cutting would do I couldn't say for certain that taking that from the spending wouldn't hurt anything. #2 I would do is reduce border control on mexico as since illegal immigration is a cycle people generally don't enter in the country illegally, they actually tend to enter using a work visa and then overstay it and when they see the border control instead of going back they decide to just stay. studies have found that roughly the same amount of immigrants enter as they do leave and when you put up more border control they get bottled up in america. This also helps my #1 thing as it would allow more money to either replace what was taken out or to add to the foreign affairs.
#3 My 3rd act would be a two parter as I would first accept Syrian refugees to get some weight off of the European countries and then I would make the troops in Syria disable the nukes and other high profile weaponry and then withdraw them so that no more troops were there. ISIS would then either not take over Syria and hooray! or they do and we would then try to make either good relations, or take back syria quickly and let the refugees go back. So what I did for winter break was pretty boring, while most people were with friends and family, or on a nice vacation I more or less slept and played Destiny (i got it for christmas). I slept and played video games. That's it. I slept. I played video games. right now you should be thinking, He is probably going to say something smart or say something that he did besides sleep and play video games. And you'd be right! I also had a soda testing night w/ friends while our parents had a wine testing night. But beyond that I really didn't do anything. Nope. Nothing else. Why are you still reading this right now? I literally just said that there was nothing else I did! Seriously! Nothing! Nothing at all! Bye!!! Really? you're STILL reading this? I'm just wasting your time right now! Whatever, just keep reading if you want. Whatever, just keep reading if you want. Whatever, just keep reading if you want.Whatever, just keep reading if you want. Whatever, just keep reading if you want. Whatever, just keep reading if you want. Whatever, just keep reading if you want. Whatever, just keep reading if you want. Whatever, just keep reading if you want. Whatever, just keep reading if you want. Whatever, just keep reading if you want. Whatever, just keep reading if you want. If you're still reading this, then congrats! you've just wasted an extra 10 minutes on this blog post
The rule that I didslike a lot is homework. I think that it is just extra work that people have to do after that 6-7 hours of it that they do in school. I beleive that homework ends up hurting you more than helping you. Ever hear of those high schoolers or college students who stay up until midnight just doing homework and then still have to study? Well that ends up hurting their schoolwork, which in turn means they get more homework, and then they stay up even later, and then they do worse on their schoolwork and it just doesn't end well. Now, I'm not saying that junior high kids have to da as much homework, but they still have a lot if each teacher assigns 1/2 hour of homework each day at the very least that person would have about 2.5 hours a day and at most 4 hours a day. This just doesn't work and it would be like going to your job as a teacher and then doing 3 hours of more work after that. you would barely see your kids! or family! or anyone! because you are comingback at around 4:30 to 5:00 and ending at around 8:00 and thatsnot even including dinner! Look, I understand why homework is given it's just that it is too much and just hurts the students. I would say just to get rid of homework alltogether in schools.
So, in this turmoil of terrorism, elections, and death I think that this is a good idea to talk about the things that, I personally, am thankful for.
So, I'm thankful for the ability to be educated. Many people find school boring or stupid or pointless. But some people in the world can't have it and desperately want it. We seldom realize what good things we have, and education is one of those things. I'm also thankful for, food. Yeah, yeah, it seems like a really obvious answer, but again, many people in the world don't even have enough food in a meal as some peoples snacks. That is the reason why I'm thankful for food. Finally I'm thankful for the ability to even write this. I'm thankful for the privilege of my class, my color, and those other things I feel people take for granted. I feel as though these things that I am thankful for, many people think that it is a constant that they just, deserve. So I am thankful for these three things in particular, (obviously I'm thankful for my friends and family) since somebody needs to be. |
